Vets collected sperm samples from rare zoo animals in Thailand to be used for artificial insemination.

The faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Khon Kaen University coordinated with the Chiang Mai Night Safari zoo in Chiang Mai province to gather sperm from different animals 'to help preserve their population'.

Doctors went to the zoo to conduct check-ups and acquire sperm from foreign wildlife, including Malayan tapirs, sun bears, Bengal tigers, jaguars, and striped hyenas. Samples were also collected from domestic species gorals, serows, Asian golden cats, and leopards.

The vets said they will analyse the quality of the sperm and freeze it to later use in artificial insemination.
