Heroic footage shows police officers performing CPR to save a dog that they just rescued from a house fire in Sterling, Illinois.

Cheyanne Bellows and her three kids narrowly escaped the blaze but their dog Shango was still trapped inside.

Responding officers Alex Kraus and Justin Hackbarth bravely pulled the dog from the smoke-filled home and administered life-saving CPR on the 5-year-old pit bull-bulldog mix

Plans are in place for Shango to meet Brinkley, a Sterling Police Department K9. Despite a subsequent fire displacing the family, a GoFundMe has been initiated to aid them in finding a new home. Amidst the challenges, the family remains grateful for Shango's survival.
