Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun took responsibility for the near-catastrophic Alaska Airlines incident on Tuesday and promised "complete transparency," as the aviation giant tries to emerge from its latest crisis.

We will address this first, acknowledging our mistake," Calhoun told employees at a safety meeting called after Friday’s emergency landing, which occurred after an aircraft panel fell off in mid-flight.

"We will address it with 100% and complete transparency at every step of the way," he said.

Calhoun, who peaked at Boeing in January 2020 when the company was reeling from two fatal 737 MAX crashes, pledged to work with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the incident.
