SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): YAHYA SAREA, Houthi military spokesman
"The Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to target sources of threat and all hostile targets on land and at sea in defense of Yemen, its sovereignty and independence. "
The United States and Britain announced their attack hours before they carried it out. The Houthis were seen evacuating their camps in the capital Sanaa and other provinces hours before the U.S.-Britain warplanes came to strike.
The Houthi group has escalated their attacks on Israel-linked ships since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7 to protest Israel's offensive in Gaza.
