STORYLINE:

At least 20 Palestinians were killed after Israel attacked a house in Gaza City on Saturday morning, the state-run Palestine TV reported.

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the strip has risen to 23,843, updated the Gaza-based Health Ministry on Saturday.

Paramedic Ayman Ahmed in Gaza has been aiding the wounded in confrontations since 2004. During the current conflict, his leg was amputated while aiding the wounded.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): Ayman Ahmed, Paramedic in Gaza
"While I was doing my work on Nov. 7, we received a signal notifying us that there was a bombing in one of the areas in Deir al-Balah, so we went there to do our duty. The bombing caused my leg injury. Then, some people helped me reach Al-Aqsa Hospital. I was surprised by the doctors telling me that they had to amputate my leg.
I urge anyone to help me get treatment outside of Gaza because my condition is very difficult. I cannot move my leg because of the inflammation in it, and I fear that my other leg will be amputated because of the same inflammation and the nerves in it are infected."

STANDUP 2 (English): ZHANG TIANLANG, Xinhua correspondent in Jerusalem
"Sunday marks the 100th day of the latest round of conflict between Israel and Hamas. On Saturday night, thousands of Israeli protesters gathered at the Habima Square in central Tel Aviv, asking the government and army to take all necessary methods to bring hostages back home. Now there are still over 130 hostages being held by Hamas and other militants in Gaza Strip.
Also on Saturday night, Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Halevi issued a statement, saying that the army will continue fighting and increase military pressure on Hamas. He said this is the only way to return all hostages being held."

Since Hamas launched its surprise attack on Oct. 7, about 1,200 people in Israel, including 790 civilians, were killed in the initial assault as hundreds of Hamas fighters and Gazans raided southern communities.
