A resident kayaked through floods as extreme weather battered parts of the U.S. last week.

James Ronayne, who had been monitoring tide and wind forecasts, observed the alarming conditions earlier in the day during mid-day low tide in downtown Annapolis, Maryland on January 9.

Recognizing the significance of the approaching storm, he launched his kayak from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel parking lot around 4 pm local time.

Ronayne said he was fascinated and concerned, attributing the heightened tides to the effects of climate change.

He noted the increasing frequency of such occurrences and emphasised the consequences of the extreme weather for local traffic and businesses.
