STORYLINE:

Three security personnel were injured after the security forces foiled attempts of a suicide bomber who wanted to target the governor's office in west Afghanistan's Nimroz province on Sunday, a statement of the Ministry of Interior Affairs said.

"A suicide bomber was attempting to target the provincial governor office in Nimroz province today, but the security personnel identified and gunned him down," the statement asserted.

"Unfortunately, three security personnel were injured in the incident," the statement said.

This is the fourth blast in the war-torn Afghanistan over the past nine days, three of them in the national capital Kabul city.

Earlier, three blasts have shocked Afghanistan's capital Kabul on different days claiming at least 10 lives. The Islamic State outfit has claimed responsibility for a blast in a mini-bus that left five dead and 15 others injured.
