Skyscrapers from the former British trading outpost of Hong Kong amazed Chinese visitors riding an open-top tour bus in the city.

Footage shows the towering architectural giants lining the roads as holidaymakers from the Communist mainland marvelled at how Britain turned the port into one of the world's biggest financial centres.

The holidaymakers took photos and videos of the modern structures as they explored the area with a guide September 18 evening.

Under British rule, Hong Kong grew from an opium port into a major center for international trade and finance. The laissez-faire economic policies promoted by the British government attracted significant foreign investment and fueled rapid economic growth.

They transformed Hong Kong's infrastructure, building extensive port facilities, roads, railways, and public utilities, laying the foundation for its future economic success.

However, the country was returned to China in 1997 - bringing an end to 150 years of free speech, freedom of expression, and international prowess.

Taiwan is currently battling to avoid falling back under Chinese control.
