This is the dramatic moment the Philippine Coast Guard rescued six passengers who were stuck on a distressed boat amid rough weather on Sunday.

Footage shows Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande officers tying the damaged MBCA Siarelco to the rescue boat to be towed back to shore after it lost control amid churning waters off Surigao del Norte province on January 14.

The vessel carrying six people had departed Navarro Town and was headed for Catabaan Town when it was struck by strong wind and waves that destroyed its rudder and left it unable to steer.

Coastguards dispatched the rescue boat MBCA Khelera and successfully towed the MBCA Siarelco back to the Port of Socorro in Surigao del Norte.

No injuries were reported.
