A Thai beauty queen showed off her awesome sharp-shooting skills with a shotgun.

Footage shows former Miss Tourism World Thailand Ramida Detkriangkraisorn, or simply Tara to close friends and families, running across a shooting range with her long firearm and hitting targets in Pathum Thani province, Thailand.

Tara said she enrolled in an International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) class and bought a Taran G17 pistol as her starter weapon.

She said: ‘I actually began playing with guns as a child, with the opportunity to try recreational shooting.

‘When I entered the store and saw the gun, I felt like love at first sight and decided to purchase this pistol, before seriously practising IDPA.'

She had been learning self-defense involving guns for at least five months.

She said: ‘I had a prior passion for extreme sports and had previously engaged seriously in both international-style boxing and Muay Thai.

‘Then, after trying shooting, it felt like the right fit for me, as it removed all constraints, allowing me to practise and develop my skills as much as I desired.'

Tara added practice shooting demands a high level of concentration and is an excellent sport for people who seek to enhance their consciousness.

She said: ‘There are several challenges I must overcome. I must compete with myself, as some disappointments may stem from physical differences as a woman.

‘Such as stiffness from firearms in my hands when using them, which could potentially lead to minor injuries. I must get over it and keep fighting.'

However, Tara said that there are some who criticise her for her choice of sport as she is a woman in a conservative southeast Asian country.

She said: ‘I must persevere against societal trends, as Thai society is not fully open to women using firearms or participating in shooting sports.

‘However, I feel that women have the right to practice shooting sports as it enables them to train in the use of firearms to protect themselves and their properties.

‘I believe that women should be able to practise using firearms without facing societal stigma.'

Now, Tara is helping the country's Ministry of Tourism and Sports to promote advocacies.

She said: ‘Becoming the ambassador for the Ministry of Tourism and Sports was one of my life goals, allowing me to contribute to society, while shooting is my favourite sport.

‘In Thailand, shooting had been a relatively exclusive circle with limited public knowledge, hindering opportunities for them to become athletes or even to explore recreational shooting at local ranges.'

But Tara said that by providing her audience with necessary knowledge, she could show that shooting is not a boring sport.

She said: ‘I tried to showcase various aspects of shooting, emphasising that it's not just a boring sport.

‘By incorporating elements of comedy, fashion, and trending topics, it became more engaging and enjoyable for viewers, sparking their interest unconsciously to try out shooting.'

She added her choice of attire for her shooting videos is based on the appropriateness of location, timing, and safety.

She said: ‘I consider myself as someone who enjoys fashion and dressing up. However, my attire is based on the appropriateness of the location, timing, and safety, as per my own assessment.

‘Once you develop a passion for this sport, it is necessary to break down any limitations, as there will always be a path forward.'
