In a joint operation conducted on January 11 at 2:30 a.m. Sanaa time, U.S. Central Command forces, in collaboration with the United Kingdom and supported by Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, and Bahrain, carried out precision strikes on Houthi targets. The objective was to diminish their capacity for unlawful and hazardous assaults on U.S. and international vessels, as well as commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The multinational effort targeted crucial elements, including radar and air defense systems, along with storage and launch sites for various offensive unmanned aerial systems, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles employed by the Houthi forces.

The operation responds to a series of aggressive actions by Iranian-backed Houthi militants since October 17, 2023, attempting to target and harass 27 ships in international shipping lanes. General Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM Commander, emphasized that these strikes, distinct from Operation Prosperity Guardian, aim to hold Houthi militants and their Iranian sponsors accountable for jeopardizing maritime safety and endangering lives across 55 nations. The international community remains resolute in its stance against illegal and destabilizing actions in the region.
