Chinese women brazenly snatch hangers in daring clothing store theft
Two women brazenly snatched hangers in a daring clothing store theft in eastern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in Shanghai on January 13.
Two women went from casual shoppers to robbers when they attempted to pilfer a few clothing hangers from a storage area adjacent to the fitting rooms in a clothing store.
Upon noticing the attempted theft, store staff intervened to prevent the unauthorised acquisition. Surprisingly, the situation took an unexpected turn as the two women escalated the encounter into a full-blown tug-of-war over the hangers.
Despite the store employees' attempts to stop them, the two women managed to make off with a handful of hangers.
Ms. Xu, the store owner, revealed that these hangers were newly purchased for displaying sample clothing and cost 20 yuan (£2.21) each. Frustrated by the incident, she had no choice but to involve the authorities.
Following the police intervention, the stolen hangers were successfully reclaimed through a phone call to the women.
However, a woman seemingly discontented with the resolution and showed up at the store the next day, pushing and shoving store employees while hurling insults.
Despite the aggressive behaviour, the police were limited in their response due to the relatively minor nature of the incident.
The store owner, finding herself helpless, opted to avoid further confrontation by keeping a low profile in the face of the disgruntled customer.
