A kitten that was stuck in a sewer was rescued by locals who removed concrete manhole cover.

The moggy was heard crying by residents outside their home and called neighbours and local officials for help in Prachinburi, Thailand, on January 13.

Footage shows the men holding steel crowbars to pry open the thick concrete together.

They used a power tool to lift it up before one of them climbed down the hole to take the cat.

Resident Haru Hero said: ‘It was crying very loud and asking for help so we could not just leave it trapped in the drain.'

The kitten was safe after four hours of rescue operation and was adopted by one of the locals.
