Police Officers Save Lives in House Fire Rescue in Mt Clemens, MI, USA
This footage was filmed and produced 10 January 2024.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has publicly lauded the exceptional bravery of Deputies Zachary Deng, Johnathon Korte, and Thomas Bartoli for their courageous response to an early morning fire call on January 10, 2024.
Responding to a residence on the 46400 block of Leanna Drive in Macomb Township, Deputy Deng, the first on the scene, encountered flames visible through the closed front door. Despite several attempts to kick the door open, he entered the home and directed an occupant to safety. Inside, he discovered a man engulfed in flames, attempting to smother the fire with a blanket.
Deputies Korte and Bartoli arrived promptly with fire extinguishers, braving heavy smoke. After Deputy Deng's initial efforts, Deputy Korte took over, extinguishing flames until the extinguisher was empty. Simultaneously, another Deputy rescued the family dog, Keeva. Deputy Bartoli then re-entered with another extinguisher, successfully quelling the remaining flames just as Macomb Fire arrived.
Sheriff Wickersham praised their swift and selfless actions, preventing a more significant tragedy. Both residents and the three deputies, treated for smoke inhalation, have been released from area hospitals. The male resident is in stable condition, and the female has been discharged.
