Hundreds of student demonstrators took to the streets of Sao Paulo on Wednesday to protest against an increase in rail fares on metro trains. Footage shows demonstrators marching with flags and banners amid a heavy police presence. Protesters walked from the Sao Paulo Municipal Theatre, down streets of center. Following a decree by regional governor Tarcisio De Freitas, ticket prices on metro trains in Sao Paulo reportedly rose from 4.40 Brazilian reals to R$5 (roughly 0.93 euros) on January 1.
