STORYLINE:
Located on China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Cerbong photovoltaic power station is the highest of its kind in the world.
At an altitude of 5,100 meters in Shannan City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, the project started to upload electricity to the power grid nearly three weeks ago.

"After being put into operation, it is expected to provide 90 million kWh of clean energy annually which will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 92,000 tonnes."
The project creates more jobs and also increases incomes for local villagers.

"The total income of villagers increased from over 100,000 yuan (13,900 U.S. dollars) last year to nearly 1 million yuan (139,000 U.S. dollars) this year."
At present, the installed capacity of hydropower, photovoltaic and wind power in Xizang accounts for 53.72 percent, 36.32 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
In 2023, Xizang Power Grid supplied 2.57 billion kWh of clean power to other provinces.
The region plans to supply 15.5 billion kWh of electricity to 18 provinces under a framework agreement on power aid in the next three years.
