US Marines Demolish Bridge with C4 in San Clemente, USA

In a strategic maneuver, U.S. Marines from Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 373, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, conducted a precision bridge demolition operation during phase I of the Strategic Mobility Exercise (STRATMOBEX) II, held from January 4-6, 2024.
The operation focused on the removal of a hazardous Bailey Bridge, a crucial step in enhancing range control's capability to insert targets into the Shore Bombardment Area of San Clemente Island. The demolition, involving the attachment of C4 blocks, clears the way for subsequent phases. Phase I sets the groundwork for the construction of a shallow water crossing and the execution of follow-on missions in phases II and III of STRATMOBEX II.
