Speeding pickup crashes into the back of truck in Thailand
This is the shocking moment a speeding pickup truck crashed into the back of a lorry in Thailand.
Dashcam footage shows a Nissan Navara pickup rear-ending the six-wheeler Isuzu Deca that was coasting along a road in Surin province on January 14.
The impact sent the lorry spinning across the road while the pickup smashed into a wall.
Emergency services received a report at 6:40 pm and went to the scene near a local restaurant.
They found the Isuzu Deca obstructing one lane on the road, while the Nissan Navara was crumpled with its male driver severely injured. He was rushed to the Sankha Hospital for treatment.
Authorities were investigating the cause of the crash.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
