Russian airborne artillery units allegedly destroyed a Ukrainian warehouse full of ammunition on the right bank of the Dnieper River.

Soldiers from the 'Dnieper' troop formation reportedly carried out a series of tasks to destroy the warehouse containing various weapons and military equipment on January 17.

The strikes reportedly happened with 2 A36 Giatsint-B howitzers, a 152-millimetre field gun, on the right bank of the Dnieper River, in the area of the city of Kherson, Kherson Oblast, eastern Ukraine.

Russia's Ministry of Defence said in a statement: 'During the execution of combat tasks, airborne artillery units conducted strikes with 152mm howitzers 'Hyacinth-B'.

'The attack happened on identified reconnaissance targets on the right bank of the river, under the control of Ukrainian formations.

'A field warehouse with ammunition belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was precisely destroyed by accurate fire at the specified coordinates.'

The squad's commander, named 'Vnuk', said: 'We primarily engage the enemy's personnel and lightly armoured vehicles.

'We also conduct counter-battery combat, during which we strike at the mortars and artillery guns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

'On average, we use more than 50 shells daily. Over the past day, we targeted the enemy's strongholds, exposing them.

'The targets are identified by aerial reconnaissance. Two to three shots, correction, and target destruction. The guys handle their tasks with 100 per cent effectiveness.'

After the mission, the unit camouflaged the artillery and left the position to perform a new military task.
