This is the dramatic moment a 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook a volleyball court during a game in the Philippines.

The tremor rattled the covered court while players were in the middle of a volleyball match in San Francisco town, Agusan del Sur province, on January 17 evening.

Footage shows how the locals scattered to find cover as the ground shook during the earthquake.

Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said the quake struck 48 kilometres northeast of Hinatuan town in Surigao del Sur province at 8:31 pm local time.

It was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres, and was reported to be an aftershock of the 7.4 magnitude offshore earthquake that struck Surigao del Sur last December 2.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
