A passerby caught a 3-year-old boy falling from the fifth floor of a building in southern China.

The heroic CCTV was filmed in the city of Nanping in Fujian Province on January 19.

The toddler's plunge was partly cushioned by a second-floor rooftop and a street shop's signboard before continuing to fall, leading to a dramatic rescue by a passerby.

The savior, Mr. Cui Lianhai, a visitor from Hebei province on a business trip, displayed extraordinary courage and quick thinking. He and a colleague, while walking nearby, spotted the child teetering on the edge of a precipice. Without a second's hesitation, Cui ran towards the building. As he dialled a call for an emergency assistance, he prepared himself to catch the falling child.

As the tension mounted, the sound of splintering wood signaled imminent danger. Realising time was running out and risking injury from falling debris, Mr. Cui bravely moved forward. In an incredible reflex action, he caught the child mid-air, preventing a tragic outcome and ensuring the boy did not suffer any secondary injuries.

Miraculously, the young boy survived the ordeal with no serious injuries and is currently under further observation in the hospital. Mr. Cui also remained unharmed.

Reflecting on his courageous act, Cui modestly stated, "In such a situation, anyone would have done the same."
