This is the dramatic moment a footbridge collapsed amid raging floods following heavy rain in the Philippines.

Video shows the structure snapping in half before falling into the surging river in Governor Generoso town, Davao Oriental province, on January 18.

The country's Davao region in the southern island of Mindanao is being battered by heavy rains, killing at least seven people in floods and landslides.

The Office of Civil Defense said at least 187,000 people have been displaced, warning residents to brace for even worse flooding.

State weather agency PAGASA said the rains were caused by the shear line or convergence of cool northeast monsoon winds and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
