Footage shows Russian airborne forces seizing a Ukrainian stronghold in a swift military operation.

Russian airborne troops from the Southern Military District secured a massive Ukrainian military stronghold near the city of Bakhmut, in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast on January 18.

Russia's Ministry of Defense said in a statement 'Airborne reconnaissance uncovered enemy positions, followed by artillery strikes to neutralise opposition forces.

'First-person-view [FPV] drones identified and eliminated enemy shelters and firing points, leading to a rapid and coordinated assault by airborne troops using BMD-2 airborne combat vehicles.

'The Ukrainian positions were swiftly overrun, and the captured stronghold underwent a thorough clearance by the airborne assault groups.'
