A massive landslide occurred in southwestern China, killing at least 8 people.

The drone footage was filmed in the city of Zhaotong in Yunnan Province on January 22. Ongoing snowfall with the mass of debris cascaded into the village like a waterfall, burying houses and creating a massive breach in the mountainside.

In response, local authorities have urgently evacuated more than 200 people. They have also mobilised a significant rescue effort, including 10 loaders, 33 fire engines, and over 200 rescue workers, all working diligently in the search and rescue operations.

As of 7:00 pm, eight victims have been extracted from the debris, unfortunately, none of them showing any signs of life.

1月22日5时51分，云南省昭通市镇雄县塘房镇凉水村合心村民小组、和平村民小组发生一起山体滑坡。据初步核查，灾害共造成18户47人被掩埋。
滑坡现场的航拍画面显示，现场仍有降雪，堆积体如瀑布倾泻进村掩埋房屋，山体上好像拉开了一个巨大的豁口。
目前，当地已紧急转移群众200余人，调集10台装载机、33辆消防车，集结200余名救援人员全力开展搜救工作。
截至19时，已搜救出8名被困者，均已无生命体征。
