This is the heartwarming moment animal rescuers helped a one-eyed dog with its head stuck in a plastic jar.

The hapless pooch was spotted by resident Ann, 49, walking around with a pack of strays at their village in Ang Thong, Thailand.

She called the local animal rescue team as the dog proved elusive despite the plastic container lodged on its head.

The dog thwarted the officers as it wove around the village, slipping through cow pens and hiding in tall grass before disappearing into the nearby forest.

Rescuers were only able to catch it the morning after on January 21 after the exhausted canine was found panting next to a river.

Footage shows how the specialists pinned down the dog and cut away the plastic jar suffocating it. The dog, which had a blind right eye, was given food and water, and later ran off after recovering its strength.

Ann said: 'I tried to save the dog myself, but it kept running away from me. I was worried it might die because it couldn't eat or drink, so I called the rescuers for help.'
