Russian Su-25SM crews strike Ukrainian armed forces positions
Su-25SM attack aircraftcrews from the Central Military District (ЦВО) have effectively engaged Ukrainian ArmedForces (ВСУ) positions in the Krasnolimansk direction within the area of the Ukrainian front on January 22.
The Su-25SM attack aircraft executed an offensive strike against a concentration of personnel and lightly armoured vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the operational zone of what Russia calls the special military operation.
Upon receiving coordinates from reconnaissance units, a group of Su-25aircraft from the 'Center' task force carried out a mission to destroy the position held by Ukrainian forces.
Coordinated by a forward air controller in close proximity to the frontline, the aircraft flew at minimum altitude, maneuvering through the terrain, and, upon reaching the designated point, executed a cobra manoeuvre – a rapid pitch-up of the aircraft's nose – launching 80-millimetre unguided S-8 rockets in a lofted trajectory.
This tactic allows for shooting from an extended distance, avoiding the direct engagement zone of the enemy's air defence systems.
The command of the 'Center' task force commended the 'high efficiency' of the Su-25 aircraft crews, emphasizing their ability to carry out combat missions in diverse meteorological conditions.
