A wild leopard caused chaos when it rampaged through a hotel - scattering items in a room and leaping at the person filming from behind window bars.

The dramatic incident unfolded when the big cat emerged from the forest and climbed into the Castle Kanota Heritage Hotel in Jaipur in Rajasthan, India, at around 9:40 am on January 18.

Dogs began barking and a vigilant tourist spotted the leopard, informing the hotel staff, while the owner, named only as Maansingh, alerted the Forest Department team.

As guests swiftly left the hotel, staff, local authorities, and wildlife rescue teams worked tirelessly for over two hours to tranquillise the leopard.

Amid the evacuation, the leopard entered a staff room, but quick-thinking individuals secured the door from the outside, preventing further movement.

The Forest Department team then successfully tranquillised the leopard and provided relief to hotel staff and guests.

Prithviraj Meena, Bassi arearanger of the Forest Department reported the leopard's intrusion in the morning, with both their team and the Jaipur Zoo team swiftly conducting a casualty-free rescue operation.

The leopard was taken to the Nahargarh Rescue Centre and received preliminary treatment. It will be released into the wild.

Meena emphasized the rich wildlife near Kanota, with Amagarh and Galta forests nearby, making leopard sightings common as they venture into urban developments in search of food or water.
