This is the shocking moment a tyre exploded just as a repair man tried to cut off the airflow.

The worker, Ma, was cleaning up when he realised the large truck wheel had been over-inflating in Tianjin, China on January 15.

He rushed to the pump in a bid to remove it, but within only ten seconds, the large blast happened.

CCTV footage shows the tyre blowing up, throwing away some of its parts and nearby objects before covering everything in a large cloud of smoke.

Ma said: 'The tyre had been under excessive pressure for an extended period. It caused the steel wires inside to break.

'I heard the sound a pressure building up so I knew that I had to cut off air but I was too late.'

Fortunately, no one was injured but the tyre was wrecked beyond repair.
