The dramatic video shows a red Suzuki cutting another driver's path before slamming into a crash barrier on the motorway.

Dashcam footage recorded on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, connecting the cities of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, in India, showed the screeching car swerving to the right at around 2:50 pm on January 21.

It can then be seen hitting the crash barrier on the right before flipping a couple of times and finally landing on its tyres as stunned drivers slow down to avoid getting involved in the accident.

Emergency crews rushed on-site after it was revealed that two women and three children were slightly injured in the incident. They are currently recovering and their conditions have been reported as stable.

Navi Mumbai traffic police inspector G. M.Mujavar said: 'The car was going towards Mumbai around 3 pm when it lost control. We have sent the injured to a Mumbai hospital.'

Mujavar added: 'The family in the car was very lucky to have survived with minor injuries because the vehicle could have even fallen off the bridge into the sea because of its speed.'

Meanwhile, police initiated an investigation against Zara Shakir, 35, from the city of Panvel, who was reportedly behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Senior inspector S. Dhumal said: 'We have received the preliminary accident report from our Navi Mumbai traffic police officials.

'Rashand negligent driving led to this mishap, endangering the lives of the car's occupants as well as other motorists on the bridge. They were going from Panvel to Dongri. So far, we have only recorded the basic statements.'

Indian media revealed that the incident happened less than 10 days after India's Primer Minister Narendra Modi, 73, launched the bridge, on January 12.
