Jail Escapee Hides from Police in a Garbage Can in Atlanta, GA, USA

In a daring turn of events on January 17, 2024, Atlanta police successfully apprehended 22-year-old Tyree Chapman, an escapee from the Bessemer City Jail in Alabama. Following the scent of a stolen Infiniti Q50, officers, aided by the Aviation Unit (Phoenix 1) and the Georgia State Patrol, engaged in a high-speed chase that culminated in Chapman attempting to flee on foot.
As Phoenix 1 monitored from above, Chapman sought refuge in a residential area, resorting to hiding inside a garbage can. Ground units, acting on the airborne intelligence, located and arrested him. The K-9 Unit uncovered a hidden firearm in another garbage can.
Chapman faces charges, including Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Theft By Receiving Stolen Property. Currently held in Fulton County Jail, he awaits extradition to Alabama.
