Outrage as toddler endures sub-zero temperatures in just diaper, Walmart employee 'fired for exposing shocking scene'
Shocked shoppers confronted a mother who brought her toddler into a Walmart in Byram, Mississippi, clothed in just a diaper despite sub-zero temperatures.
The little boy is seen shivering with his teeth chattering as he is wheeled around the store in a trolley by his mum. Another shopper had placed their jacket around the boy after he was seen in nothing but a diaper.
According to the filmer, temperatures of 25 degrees Fahrenheit (-3 degrees Celsius) were recorded on January 17.
Felicia Nicole Darling, an employee at the store, filmed the shocking incident as she and other shoppers approached the parent.
She also claimed she was fired from her job for posting the video online.
"I got fired for recording this video. As you can see this lady brought her son to Walmart with no clothes on," she told Newsflare.
"We offered to buy some clothes and the lady was very rude and hostile to everyone. So I took it upon myself since I’m a loss prevention officer to record.
"It was unacceptable for how she’s mistreated this child. I was a child advocate.
"Do you see how he looks in the camera like he crying out for help?
"My heart broke for that poor child. So yes I took it upon myself and recorded this happened."
A follow-up video shared by Darling shows a kind customer putting a jumper over the child whilst the mother stood by on her phone.
Viewers on TikTok were quick to voice their opinions. One said: "The look in that lil boy's eyes tho…like he looking at them like - 'yes, please help me'."
Another commented: "Girl you did the right thing !!!! You probably saved this baby’s life!!!"
"It's really sad. Yall did the right thing. The mother is obviously dealing with some things. Yes sometimes foster care is horrible but I pray that he has a family member that can step in," said another viewer.
