STORYLINE:

STANDUP (English): OHOOD AL-JAGHOUB, Xinhua reporter in Ramallah
"A 30-day ceasefire agreement through intense Qatari, American, and Egyptian mediation efforts is being pushed forward, aiming to allow more aid to enter Gaza and focusing on releasing all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. Meanwhile, fierce fighting persists in Khan Younis and southern areas where tank and air strikes surged in the last few days.
Thousands of Palestinians were forced to flee again to the city of Rafah, where more than 1.5 million internally displaced people are crowding, seeking safety, while the concerns about Israel advancing to Rafah city and the possible control of Philadelphi Corridor, which borders Egypt, are still rising."

Gaza residents say they are trapped, displaced, and have nowhere to go.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): Gaza resident
"On Wednesday evening, they surrounded a school where we were displaced, and there was heavy shelling and shooting until Thursday evening. We couldn't get out of there. After that, they destroyed the school wall, entered it, and ordered us to leave. We are freezing in the cold weather. We have no blankets, no food, and no water. We have nothing here."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): Gaza resident
"We remained for three days under a severe siege that did not even allow us to leave our places. After that, someone told us that we had to leave. When we left the school, we found a large army of soldiers, tanks, and bulldozers. It was a terrifying sight."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Arabic): MOHAMED AYMAN, Gaza resident
"The army gathered all the men, and then the soldiers hit us violently. They interrogated us and humiliated us severely while we were almost naked."

SOUNDBITE 4 (Arabic): NAJAT SHABET, Gaza resident
"My husband was seriously injured near his spine (during the school siege), and until now I don't know anything about his condition."

Meanwhile, in Israel, thousands of women took to the streets across the country on Wednesday, urging their government to sign a ceasefire deal for the release of hostages held in Gaza.

More than 100 hostages are currently held in Gaza by Hamas and other militant groups.
