Park rangers free macaque caught in poacher trap in Thailand
Park rangers freed a female macaque caught in a poacher's trap in Thailand.
Wildlife staff were patrolling the forest in the Khao Luang National Park when they found the hapless female stump-tailed macaque clinging to a tree while its neck was ensnared.
They untangled the trap carefully, allowing the primate to return to the forest floor and retreat into the woods in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on January 22.
A spokesman for the Khao Luang National Park said the rangers were scouring the wilderness for potential traps laid out by suspected illegal wildlife smugglers.
