A brave local confronted alleged shoplifters leaving a supermarket in San Francisco, California.

Footage shows the self-proclaimed activist Darren Stallcup calling out the suspected thieves walking out of the grocery store carrying alleged stolen goods.

He wrote online: 'After watching hordes of fentanyl thieves ransack our local grocery store (One of our last few remaining grocery stores downtown) I decided to stop watching and start stopping these bastards. Let this be a wake up call to the rest of America: STOP THE THEFT.'

Crime in San Franciso has surged in recent years, with several large retailers closing their stores in the area.

Tracy McCray, president of the San Francisco Police Officers Association, told Fox News last year that smash and grabs, robberies, burglaries and open-air drug use were historically contained to a few neighborhoods, but now criminals are targeting the city's richest neighborhoods.

'Now you're seeing crime in the more affluent areas,' he said.

Crime statistics show that larceny, robbery, assaults and motor vehicle theft crimes were all up compared with 2020-2022.
