Locals floated their cats to safety through floods in the Philippines.

Footage shows Norol Isik pushing a plastic tub used as a makeshift boat for the orang moggy named Tigres across the water in Davao Oriental province on January 19.

His friend Nashroden followed behind, also wading in the brown-coloured deluge, carrying a white feline named Cloud.

The youngsters returned for the cats when the storm had passed and took the animals with them to safety.

Relative Sheridan Piligrin, who came with the boys, said: ‘We did not expect that the storm would be that bad. We had to leave our home because the water was too high.'

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that the severe weather affected 185,000 families as the shear line continued to bring heavy rainfall and massive flooding.
