Footage shows the celebrations in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Saturday night on the 80th anniversary of the Siege of Leningrad victory.

The annual event celebrates the fall of a blockade by the Nazi axis around the city of Leningrad on the Eastern Front of World War II between September 1941 and January 27, 1944.

At least 650,000 residents died from starvation, disease, and shelling from distant German artillery due to the siege.

The ring around the city was carried out by Germany and Finland, though other axis powers included Italy and Japan.
