STORYLINE:

STANDUP (English): WANG ZHUOLUN, Xinhua correspondent in Jerusalem
"Saturday marked the 113th day of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. In the rainy and cold evening, Israeli protesters gathered in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, calling on the government to secure the release of hostages in Gaza. Some of them also urged for an immediate ceasefire and an end to Israeli military presence in the West Bank. Speaking at a televised press conference in the same evening, Netanyahu stressed Israel must achieve all the goals of the war - destroying Hamas, bringing all the hostages home, and ensuring that Gaza does not again constitute a threat to Israel."

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague on Friday ordered Israel to take all possible measures to prevent genocide acts in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinians in the besieged enclave of the Gaza Strip have differing opinions concerning the ruling. Some expressed disappointment that a ceasefire is not included in the decision.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): MOHAMMED AL-SAADANI, Palestinian in Gaza
"We initially expected that the international court would take a decision obligating Israel to cease fire because the evidence presented to the international court was strong and condemned Israel for committing crimes."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): AHMED ABU ZOOROUB, Palestinian in Rafah
"Certainly, the decision taken by the court does not serve the Palestinian people, and the decision should have been a ceasefire. Unfortunately, the measures do not obligate Israel to cease fire. They only asked Israel not to commit any genocide crimes while Israel is still committing crimes."
