Artist sculpts 1.3cm tall Hindu god onto top of pencil in India
An artist sculpted a miniature figure of a Hindu god onto the top of a pencil in India.
Navratha Prajapati said the height of the tiny statue is only 1.3cm, making it the smallest image of Lord Rama in the world.
Footage shows the graphite on the pencil tip carefully being sculpted using a sharp oblique knife to add details to create the small religious carving in Rajasthan on January 20.
The Guinness World Record title holder said: ‘Today, when our pride was held high in Ayodhya, there were many people, some were devotees, and some were artists, doing what they could at their level. I thought I needed to do something, so I decided to do a statue of Sri Ram with the pencil lead.'
He added that the art took five days to complete and used different tools despite its minuscule size.
He said: ‘Everyone was surprised to see this kind of art form with the pencil. Now I am getting calls from many people wanting to know how this is being done.'
Prajapati has become know for his Guinness World Records achievements, including a chain with 101 links made of pencil leads.
He will now gift the miniature statue to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, an organisation involved in the construction and management of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Lord Rama, also known as Ramachandra, holds a pivotal position in Hinduism as one of the most revered deities. He is considered the seventh avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, the preserver god in the Hindu trinity.
