Thieves Target Keyless Cars from Outside Homes in Dorset, UK

In response to a recent incident in Poole on January 24, 2024, Dorset Police is urging heightened awareness regarding the security of keyless entry cars. The incident revealed a concerning tactic employed by offenders who use devices from outside a property to connect to a car key's signal, tricking the vehicle into unlocking automatically and allowing ignition start.
The reported incident involved two individuals acting suspiciously outside a residence at 2:30 am. CCTV footage captured one of the suspects carrying a backpack on his front and holding a wire above his head in an attempt to connect to the key's signal. Fortunately, no vehicles were successfully accessed during this event.
