Baby cow with two heads nicknamed 'Monster' born on farm in Thailand
A baby cow has been affectionately nicknamed 'Monster' after being born with two heads on a farm in Thailand.
The calf - which is still going strong as seen in the video this morning - was born on January 24 with two of its skulls adjoined on a single neck. He has three holes for four eyeballs, two mouths, and two noses.
Footage taken on January 29 at the farm in Roi Et province in the remote northeast shows the newborn being petted by its owners, who consider the animal a sign of good luck and fortune.
Little monster - named after the iconic Sesame Street character - can function normally but needs help lifting his heavy double head, which only has two ears.
The cow's owner Belle Chittaraporn said: 'I hope the calf wasn't feeling anything bad and he's not going through any pain. It was so strange but true. He really has two heads and four eyes.
'We are taking care of him the best that we can, because we believe he is lucky. It is a blessing that he has been born on our farm. We hope he will live much longer.'
A two-headed cow, also known as a dicephalic cow or bocephalus, is an incredibly rare congenital anomaly in cattle. It occurs when an embryo incompletely splits during early development, resulting in two heads sharing a single body.
