In a commendable display of swift action and teamwork, Deputy Sarah Ernstes and K9 Mary Lu of the K9 Unit located a missing and endangered 11-year-old girl on January 26, 2024. Responding to the call at 7:57 p.m. in the 16000 block of Carlton Lake Drive, the duo tracked the child to a neighbor's house, discovering she had been given a ride to a nearby apartment complex in Wimauma.

Upon reaching the specified location, K9 Mary Lu skillfully identified a locked bathroom door in a nearby park.
