A veterinarian removed hardened pus covering a baby tortoise's eye in Thailand.

Video shows the doctor using tweezers to peel away the crusted material from the pet reptile at a clinic in Bangkok on July 11.

The vet Jaturun Luapan said: 'An abscess appeared in the turtle's eye, but it was visible. It is an infection of the sclera and cornea. The inside of the eyeball is normal.'

Jaturun said the tortoise had been suffering mycoplasmosis - an infection caused by bacteria of the genus Mycoplasma. The affliction can cause in animals pneumonia, peritonitis, mastitis, and conjunctivitis, among other complications.
