A guar, also called Indian bison, was hauled out of a 50-metre-deep well in Manapparai, India's Tamil Nadu.

Footage from January 29 shows the bovine being lifted out of deep pit after a team of forest officials tied ropes around it.

The guar was later freed and it is seen walking away from the scene on its own.

A gaur (Indian bison) was rescued after it had fallen into a well which is 50 metres deep, in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

This incident happened in Manaparai range, Trichy on January 29.

Visuals showed the bison swimming inside the well before it was rescued. Upon receiving this information, the forest department officials rushed to the spot to save the animal. Dr Kalaivanan, the veterinarian of the forest department sedated the wild bison and then it was taken out with the help of a crane. Straps were tied around the animal and it was pulled out safely by the crane. The animal didn't move as it was sedated. The bovine later was freed and was seen walking away from the area.

According to a report, the forest department team including the forest range officer, with the help of locals, successfully brought out the bison after a tiring effort of four hours.
