A nine-month-old cat named Thirdee climbed inside the fridge when his owner took out drinking water.

But its owner had to negotiate with him as he refused to leave the spot as the temperatures outside were more than 35 degrees Celsius in Cavite, the Philippines, on January 30.

Footage shows the cat pulling his limbs away from his owner while meowing as she asks him to come out.

The determined owner received a hiss from the hardheaded furry creature, and, eventually, she gave up, allowing her pet to stay inside the fridge.

Pet owner Angeli Laxamana said: 'He was so cute. He wanted to sleep inside the refrigerator because of the days' weather.'

The Philippines weather bureau announced the start of the country's warm and dry season last month, which will last until May.

The country recorded its highest heat index of 46 degrees Celsius last month in the province of Occidental Mindoro.
