STORYLINE:
A Chinese-constructed water supply project has benefited the lives of the residents in Arusha, the third largest city in Tanzania by providing access to clean water and creating job opportunities.
The Arusha New Water System Project, a major livelihood project contracted by the Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), was completed in June 2023, which can meet the daily water demand of 400,000 people in the urban area of Arusha.

"We used to get water from very far places, and it was water from the spring, which was not safe for drinking.
Now we have access to clean and safe water for washing, cooking and cleaning utensils unlike before when we were using dirty water. We are free from disease because the water is safe. Meanwhile, we don't need to buy drinking water anymore, because we have this clean water. We are grateful for this project as it helps us solve a lot of life problems."
