STORYLINE:

The Chinese embassy in Lebanon held a celebration ceremony for the upcoming Chinese New Year in Beirut on Tuesday.

Performances including traditional Chinese dance and music, martial arts and lion dance, were staged during the event.

"I would like to thank the Chinese embassy. I feel proud to participate in this event which is important to consolidate the relations between China and Lebanon. This is the first time I participate in such celebration and I am very happy and proud. I hope the relations between China and Lebanon in the future are bright and prosperous."

"It is a beautiful celebration of the Chinese New Year and this year is the Year of the Dragon, which means the positive energy and force. We are in need of this energy and force during this time."

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Year of the Dragon starts when the Spring Festival falls on Feb. 10 this year.
