This is the shocking moment a truck's wheel burst while driving along a highway in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows one of the orange eight-wheeler's front tires blowing up and engulfing the vehicle's front part in a cloud of dust in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on December 21.

The blast was heard from inside an oncoming driver's car that captured the incident on video.

Despite having one of its tires broken, the truck driver was able to safely slow down and pull over to the side while the other car sped away to keep distance.

Cham Supharat who was in the other car said: ‘The car tire suddenly exploded. Drivers should always check their vehicles before leaving.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
