Two crew members were killed and two Chinese tourists were injured when their boat crashed into a ferry off the coast of the Philippines.

The Hop & Go 1 water taxi was travelling from Mindoro island to Batangas province when it collided with the Ocean Jet 6 ship on January 31.

Rescuers were deployed to the crash site off Verde Island in Batangas at around 12:30 pm local time.

Footage taken by a passenger inside the ferry shows responders approaching the distressed vessel seen listing as it took on water.

Philippine Coast Guard Batangas Station Captain Jerome Jeciel said the water taxi's captain and third mate were killed. Their identities have not been released.

Two passengers from Beijing, China, on the boat were injured and given first aid. Two other Chinese nationals and a Swedish tourist onboard were safe.

Meanwhile, all 105 passengers and 19 crew of the Ocean Jet 6 ferry were unharmed. They arrived 'in good physical condition' at the Calapan Port.

The Philippine Coast Guard said the ferry was en route to Batangas province from Calapan City when the crash occurred.

The wreckage of the Hop & Go 1 has been towed back to its yard in Puerto Galera.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the accident, which occurred amid stormy weather.
