This is the dramatic moment an out-of-control ferry crashed into a smaller boat at a dock.

MV Melrivic 3 was about to reach the Parola Wharf when it was pushed by strong winds and strayed to the side, hitting other vessels in Iloilo City, the Philippines, on January 29.

Footage shows the ferry's side colliding with a fibre boat's rear, before slowing down and stopping as passengers looked through the guardrails.

No one was hurt among the 105 ferry passengers, while the smaller boat was empty of people, although its propeller was shattered.

Commander Paterno Berlarmino of the provincial coast guard said: ‘There was a gale warning the day before it happened, so it contributed. The strong wind pushed the ferry to the spot where the boat was docked.'

Due to the incident, the ferry's safety certificates had been suspended.

Commander Paterno added: ‘But the two parties had already agreed to rectify. The Maritime Authority will also be lifting the suspension of the passenger and cargo safety certificate after the inspection.'
