Two British tourists were arrested at a Thai airport for allegedly stealing a Chinese man's wallet.

The suspects, identified in local reports as John, 60, and Bob, 40, were detained at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on January 25 over the alleged theft.

Police said the arrest came after a Chinese tourist filed a report with the Bangrak Police Station, saying his wallet had been stolen on January 13.

The wallet containing 30,000 THB (845 USD) in cash, credit cards, and IDs, was reported to have been left at the lobby of a luxury hotel, where the British men allegedly picked it up.

Police conducted investigations and learned that the British tourists were booked on a flight to leave the country through the airport on January 25.

Officers intercepted them before they could board their plane.

They reportedly confirmed they were the same people wanted in the arrest warrants but denied the theft charges.

They were taken to the Bangrak Police Station for further questioning.

Police Colonel Thammasak Sarabun, Superintendent of Bang Rak police station, said: 'The two British tourists were questioned at the station. We cannot name them for privacy reasons but I can confirm the case was resolved.'
